Winter Weather Packs a Wallop

Wow... it's been quite a season. Amazingly, I haven't posted since December of last year (gulp). Granted, it has been quiet compared to previous times.

For Winter Break, we took a road trip up to Branson, MO, for some quiet recreation time. We explored downtown some (pictured below is Dick's Five and Dime), but mostly spent time relaxing inside our accommodations.

In January, I had the honor of performing as a member of the Oklahoma Music Educator Association All-State Mixed Choir. It was a blast performing with 200 of the best high school choral singers from across the state, a true experience of a lifetime.

And of course, we have the snow. Counting today, we have used seven out of eight snow days available to the district. This is the first time that multiple snow days have been called during an educational year since the school day was extended to build in snow days rather than tack on extra days at the end of the year back in 2011. Of course, that begs the question of what will happen if the district needs to call more snow days? Already, OKCPS (a neighboring district) has already had to schedule make up days when it exhausted its reserve of seven snow days back in early February.

That's about it for now. The weather can only be so entertaining.
