Well, They've Broken Ground!

And about time too!

At any rate, we are now actively updating both our Google+ Stream and our website daily with photo updates and notations. I'll take some time each week to give an update on what they are doing on here, but the clock has started and they are targeting a completion date of sometime between August and October, so that will vary wildly.

On the Google+ page, you can see quick updates and other interesting information that we find that you might like. Don't need to be a member of the Google+ network to view, but it is definetley handy if you want to receive automatic updates. Use the widget to find out more:

On our website, you can navigate around to see what's interesting and our whole story. Specifically, you'll want to visit the House Building page, which includes a timeline and an explanation of what's going on and how long it will take. Click on the image to go!

The weekly update will be posted on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday on the blog, so you can look forward to that. For those of you who don't feel comfortable with any of this, you can add yourself to a mailing list via our contact us page and I'll send you a monthly update. Any other questions can also be directed there as well.

Have fun!

The blog's been through a refresh!

A couple of things led me to do this refresh:

  1. Spring Break = No School = No Homework
  2. The last refresh was up for over three months
  3. I was bored and already did the majority of jobs that I had to do.
At any rate, the blog still should operate the same, so enjoy! There are a few enhancements that I want to point out, but they won't affect the way you look at our posts:
  • About the Background
The blog background changed, but you can't really see the pic. Here, you can see what pic is for the month and read a bit about it. Too small to see? Click on it to enlarge.
  • A look at how many visits we have
This shows how many visits we've had so far, along with a graph to show the distribution of the visits.
  • AddThis Sharing buttons
If you like what you see on a post, use the buttons to share the page to your social network. There are over 300 supported, so if you don't use Facebook or Twitter, click the big orange plus sign to find your network.
Finally, it really rained, thundered, and lightninged today, so no work will be done to break ground for a week. Sorry about that.

Keep up with the progress by visiting Building Our "Barbie" Home on our Main Portal. Thanks for following us!

Experiencing Oklahoma! (on St. Patrick's Day)

Lots of fun today... with just Dad, Sis and me. Let me explain:

Mom got an invitation to a go-away brunch for a lady who is moving to California that goes to our church. Until the night before, she thought everyone was invited. Sadly, it was a ladies only party meaning no males or girls.

So, we had a day out on the town... downtown OKC.

First off, we stopped for breakfast at a popular place in the midwest US: Waffle House

Great meal, with only Dad taking a waffle, all of us took eggs in some form, with toast and bacon (sausage for Sis). We did take some pics, but I have no idea where her camera is, so you get to look at the exterior of the restaurant. Sorry.

After that, we went to the OKC St. Patrick's Day Parade... which dragged on for an hour and a half... It was okay, except for the duration of it. We saw people at the beginning of the parade come back at the fourtyfive minute mark walking towards the start line, which made no sense whatsoever. At any rate, you can take a look at the pictures and videos here: Go to Google+

Later, we visited the Downtown Library to check a few things. We parked a few blocks away, then walked to it. Right next to it was the most talked about building in metro OKC region: the Devon Tower.

It is pretty impressive, it being the tallest skyscraper in Oklahoma. Then we took a visit down to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which was letting everyone in for free to celebrate their 10th aniversary downtown. We got some pretty cool pics, I'll put a few down here: Go to Google+

House won't break ground until Monday or later... watch the weather, if it starts to rain, then it will get pushed until next week (sad, but...)

Some photos will appear as they are uploaded. Check our Google+ Page, as Google has kindly taken our photo storage in hand for us.

Guess what's new!

If you guessed that it has something to do with our permanent place of residence, great job! We received word from the developer that the plans were completed yesterday. They took it to the city of Edmond today to get the permits, and they will start to break ground really, really soon. Possibly even tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

To celebrate, we have finally launched our website with all of our information. I did a post on it back here when it was in beta, but it will now be kept updated (as well as this page) with pictures and other fun stuff. I recommend bookmarking it, but you can always access all our stuff through the blog that you are reading right now.

In other recent news, Sis has started a turtoring/enrichment program called Kumon to help with her math. She seems happy with it, but that definition can be applied loosely. Also, we have been shopping and replacing things, some of which includes airbeds, mattresses, photography stuff, cookware, dinnerware(?), so on and so forth. Here's the most notable purchases:
  • A computer for Sis: she now has her dedicated workstation ("owned" by Mom and Dad), so she no longer nags me to get off
  • Lunch enrichments: this includes fruit, ramen instant noodles, and baked veggie straws, but the list continues to expand, making lunch much more tasty than back in California
  • Camera Equipment: this is the most recent purchase, since we wanted all our friends to have the best viewing experience possible. Purchased for a very reasonable price from Sam's Club, I'm sure you will enjoy the picture quality and looks alike: the Canon Powershot SX40 HS. Also, our tripod got shipped, so Dad had a real fun time picking out this tripod: Tagus Black Label 60" Pro Tripod for Camera and Camcorder. At any rate, the photos are a testament to the camera, I'd highly recommend it.
I apologize for not keeping the blog up to date as well as I should have been, however I was not expecting the drafting process to take so long. We should be hopping along in here now, so check back for more pics!

Thanks for your support and interest,
Brother

March already? We've spent 70 days (ten weeks) in OKC

I know, I know... bad me.

I haven't posted in twenty-one two (forgot leap year) days. Thankfully, I have a chance to post now. Not too much has happened in the past three weeks, we're just continually hopping along and surviving.

Looking at what has happened:

  • (on going) House Getting Built (or lack thereof)
We are still waiting for the developer to get the final drawn plans from his architect, which only started the month long process about a week and a half ago. So, nothing new there, except the fact that we aren't going to be in our new house until mid September.
  • (February 29th) First Congregational Singing
We participated in our first dedicated singing at the Seminole Pointe church of Christ on Leap Day 2012. It was a great experience, we wish it would come around more than on every fifth Wednesday
  • (March --) Sis's Birthday!
Not much happened, but her celebratory meal was at Steak and Shakes
  • (today) Ten Weeks of OKC
Well, we've survived. There was some setbacks and issues, but we survived. Hang in there with us, we aren't about to go dead yet.
We've been cruising, but hopefully we aren't going to sit back and relax for the month of March. Check back soon!

Finally, a bit of fun from me... I will be updating our G+ feed with Today in History*! Check out our posts daily by following us.
