House Report, Week 20

Howdy, and welcome to the weekly report on the status of the house in construction. A great way to look at what is happening as a quick overview, it includes links to pictures and other great content. Click on the read more link to find out the latest news this week.

Aug 13 Monday

They grouted the utility room today, and added the soap dishes. Not much else.

Aug 16 Thursday

Today, the brick team came back and installed the missing pillar in the backyard and built our mailbox. It really does look neat, our mailbox that is. Blends with the house.

Aug 17 Friday

Odds and ends... they moved the electric meter from the temporary stand to the house, and began to fix the "bulge in the wall", where the pipes aren't quite contained...

We go to check how the mailbox works, and discover that they've made it impossible to open. As some Canadians would say, "Brilliant, eh?" At any rate, they'll have to fix that, because we basically have a useless brick monolith in front of our house, and that is most definitely not approved of by the postmaster general.

the Week in Review

School has started! (Yay!) I have a psychopath for an english teacher! (Ya-- oh, that's why I'm typing this at 11pm at night.) You may note that I seem irritable for the next few weeks while my teachers work on squishing me. Anyway, that's enough bellyaching. The house has now been declared ready in 60 days or sooner. That sound's like a good deal, but remember that at the beginning they were promising mid-September. And, if we have any more screwups (like yours truly on the 18th), we're going to be on the longer side of that 60 days.

I'll try to write a general update that's not dedicated to the house whenever I a) have no homework or b) am burnt out from writing too much over the weekend. So much has happened (not), but I'm sure that you'll be interested in our waaaaaaaaaay tooooooooooooooooooo haaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwt summer. Stay tuned!

Stay tuned for more information, as we are rounding the final corner in getting the house built. As always, you can click the banner at the top of the website to view our Google+ profile and see all the latest pictures.

Our website is also there for a general overview of the whole project, so you can look at that as well. Just click here to view the timeline, or click the main portal link at the top of the page.

Thanks for keeping up with us! It is a great pleasure to share all this information with you and know that we aren't forgotten back in lovely, sunny SoCal.

Brother
