House Report, Week 16

Howdy, and welcome to the weekly report on the status of the house in construction. A great way to look at what is happening as a quick overview, it includes links to pictures and other great content. Click on the read more link to find out the latest news this week.

Hey, just a quick note before we start: most of what's happening right now is better seen than written, so click on the links to check the pictures out!

July 16 Monday

They started to seal up the cracks and holes in the drywall today. We also got our delivery of bricks, so they should start work on that relatively soon.

July 17 Tuesday

They finished sealing the gaps in the drywall today. Also, the brickwork team was there working all day, when we took the pictures they were at least halfway done with the house, which is impressive for a job that normally takes four days.

July 18 Wednesday

They continued to work on the brick today... we think they will probably finish the whole house today. They also came through and textured the walls in an... interesting way. Personally, I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it is definitely different from our house in Huntington Beach.

July 19 Thursday

The brick was finished when we got to the house today. We think that it got finished yesterday even though it wasn't finished while we were there. So, today was probably a glitch day.

July 20 Friday

Cleanup frenzy today! Almost everywhere inside and out is clean. Also, they started to put up the concrete sheets for the tile in the bathrooms and the main gas line was laid.

the Week in Review

Wow, that was quick. The house is really starting to come together, and we're excited (and ready) for the work to be finished. Every day we visit now is something new, and we think that the teams are being told to work overtime because of all the time lost before while waiting for permits, etc. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad are choosing everything from light fixtures to fans, to flooring, to knobs; Dad and I are working on the home theatre room (which is going to be awesome) and some portions of home automation and electronics.

Stay tuned for more information, as we are rounding the final corner in getting the house built. As always, you can click the banner at the top of the website to view our Google+ profile and see all the latest pictures.

Our website is also there for a general overview of the whole project, so you can look at that as well. Just click here to view the timeline, or click the main portal link at the top of the page.

Thanks for keeping up with us! It is a great pleasure to share all this information with you and know that we aren't forgotten back in lovely, sunny SoCal.
