Hey, just a quick note before we start: most of what's happening right now is better seen than written, so click on the links to check the pictures out!
July 23 Monday
They continued to work on the the stones and the showers today. We also noticed that they added one of the accents to the house. Unfortunately, they added the wrong one. We're not sure how they manged to screw up so bad, because the part they were supposed to install was sitting right there in the garage, but they brought a new, different part that is most definitely not going to work. Ah well, it should be fixed...
July 24 Tuesday
More work on the stones today... they also delivered some more sand for the mortar.
July 25 Wednesday
They continue to work on the stone, but the garage doors were also installed today. They feel really light (almost to the point that you wonder how well they will hold up), but they are insulated, so... hopefully it will hold up longer than we think. They also took the garbage bin away today.
July 26 Thursday
They finished the two car garage stone work and we saw them do some work on the chimney shack. Quite impressive, how much thought goes into it. A lot of manual labor too...
July 27 Friday
They started work on the entryway stone... slowly but surely. The house is looking better and better each day.
July 28 Saturday
They continued their work on the entryway stone, but stopped before getting to the top. We think that they will come back next week and arch the stone over the openings.
the Week in Review
This week went by way too fast for a lot of thought. Weird, I didn't think I was that old yet. Anyway, the house is actually starting to look like a house now. We've got our super secure mailbox ordered and that will be installed within the next few weeks. Lighting, home theatre, kitchen appliances, and some flooring (tile, I think) has been selected already, and Mom and Dad are just getting warmed up. Meanwhile, work at the property is just flying now. (Which is good, being stuck in this apartment is about to drive me batty... something about having the majority of my stuff stuck in storage is responsible... that and my printer going down... but that's a story for another time.)
